On July 11, 2001, Representative Dennis J. Kucinich, of Ohio, introduced H.R. 2459, a bill to create a cabinet level Department of Peace. The mission of this department would be to embody "a broad-based approach to peaceful, non-violent resolution at both domestic and international levels." NOTE: This bill was introduced exactly two months before 9/11/01. Could we, as citizens of the USA, have changed the course of history by placing our solid support behind creating a Department of Peace? We will never know. However, we can do so from this day forward!
